A Road Map for Christians

Ephesians. 4:13 “till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;”

It's always good to know where you're going. It makes things run more efficiently and it helps us to plan and prepare for life when we have some clue as to what direction we are taking. It might be fun to just go for a drive, not knowing where you are going, but you can’t live your life that way.

This verse tells us where we are going, and the destination may very well surprise you. We all know that God has a plan for our lives and we usually think about that plan as a place or task God has for us. Often I think it is not about were we are going or what we are going to do, as much as it is about what God is doing inside of us.

He is taking us to perfection. Yup, thats right! One day you are going to be a perfect man or women, even to the stature of the fullness of Christ. The truth is, at the moment you asked Jesus to forgive your sins, He made you perfect in His sight. If you have never done that, confess to Him you are a sinner, then repent and ask for forgiveness, even now.

At that point, He removed all your sins and washed your sin stained garments. He made you as white as snow, so that there was nothing you could do to add to the perfection He had worked in you. We call that positional righteousness.

However, in practice, we still blow it. We say things and do things that we wish we never would and find ourselves coming back to Jesus for another dose of our confession and His forgiveness. Ephesians tells us we will one day be perfect. We might not be close now, but eternity is coming. By the great grace of God, we will one day stand before Him, not only perfect in position, but also in practice.

Blessings,
